went to look at putting 8 3kw heaters, 8 flourescent lights, and 16 twin sockets on to this wiring, told the lanlord it requires urgent head/tails upgrade, and 3 phase board as only 1 phase per switch can be isolated, as single phase boards are used, also the whole of the property has live wires hanging out the ceiling every where, and is a death trap basically. Told him id price it for a full 3 storey rewire, with sufficient points and lights, also no emrgency lighting on ANY floor, and no fire alarm system either.

That meter on the right had a load of electric through it ;);)
But what's wrong with single phase boards attached to a 3 phase supply??

if you saw it youd understand where im coming from, also isnt there a regulation saying all 3 phases should be isolatble from the start. most of the wiring in the building has bee cut off by original people and left hanging through the ceiling and sockets drapped on the floor LIVE! :O

Single point of isolation is what you is on about Badge!
537.1.4?
If they are classed as different installations..
which 3 x meters could be...
1 x isolation per meter could be OK?

There is infact no reg that says that the whole installation should be isolatable (????) by a single switch! That reg is often misquoted and is for final circuits!
TBH that installation does look a mess though!

That is if you tear out page page 118..
537.1.3
Each Installation shall have provision for disconnection from the supply!
not final circuits ... Installation:_|
537.1.4
A main linked switch or linked circuit breaker shall be provided as near as practicable to the origin of every installation as a means of switching the supply on load and as a means of isolation.
A main switch for use by ordinary persons, e.g. household or similar installations, shall interrupt Both live conductors of a single phase supply.
"as near as practicable to the origin of every installtion.."
not final ciruits... origin.. near as you can get it! :_|
and as the main switch for use by ordinary persons, e.g. household or similar installations, must interrupt Both live conductors of a single phase supply....that do be before the single pole MCBS wot is for the final circuits!:_|
And you also tear out page 18
132.15.1
Effective means suitably placed for ready operation shall be provided so that all voltage may be cut off from every installation,
From every final circuit thereof
and from all equipment as may be necessary to prevent or remove danger
IN addition to the origin
537.2.1.1 then goes on to say that final circuit need there own isolation as well
and
537.2.1.2 also say equipment can need measure to prevent unintentional energising.
Other good reading
page 33 OSG
5.1 isolation
5.1.1 requirement
i At the origin of the installation.
Actually there isn't one reg...
there is a bunch of them that all say you need isolation at the origin!
